“To place the great wide world at your doorstep for you who yearn to travel with all the comforts of home.”
This has been the Airstream creed since 1929, when founder Wally Byam built the world’s first Airstream trailer. Throughout the company’s 80+ year history, Airstream trailers and travel vehicles have evolved from the torpedo-shaped metal trailers of the early days to modern luxury touring coaches available today such as the Interstate class B RVs and motorhomes.
Built on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis, the Airstream Interstate perfectly blends the joys of life on the road with the comforts and luxuries of home. The level of detail and style apparent in the Interstate series makes this class B motorhome a dominating force when it comes to luxury transportation. It’s like having your own private jet…on wheels!

“If you’re in the market for an RV, van conversions and/or rampvans this is the place. Helped a disabled friend purchase a rampvan from Jonathan and we were pleased with the variety that was displayed and the selection that we made. Would definitely do business with them again if the opportunity arises. I would also recommend this place to family and friends.”

Frequently Asked Questions About the Airstream Interstate
Q: What model/floorplan Airstream Interstate should I buy?
A: If you are building your class B motorhome from the wheels up, eventually you’ll have to pick out a model and floorplan. When it comes to Airstream Interstate coaches, determining the best model and floorplan depends on many factors, including what your motorhome will be used for, how many people will be riding in it, as well as personal preference. The floorplans with beds located in the rear section of the van are the most popular. Once you have a clear idea of the features and functions you’re looking for, selecting a model and floorplan should come easy.
Q: How much does an Airstream Interstate cost?
A: The price of a Mercedes Airstream Interstate varies depending on the condition of the specific vehicle (new or used), model, year, and a range of other factors. Properly pricing an Interstate is often a complex process, but some good places to start are NADA and Kelly Blue Book. However, keep in mind that quotes for used Airstreams from sites like these are not perfect. Compare the cost of the Interstate you’re looking at with similar used vehicles to get a more accurate overall estimate.
Q: Is the Interstate feasible for daily commuting?
A: While the Airstream Interstate is ultimately designed as long-haul class B motorhome, you can use it however you like. In fact, the Interstate is designed similar to modern in-city delivery vans, which means it should adapt well to daily driving without suffering much more wear. Being able to take a nap or use the toilet while running your errands around town can be a great luxury!
Q: Where can I find an Airstream Interstate dealer?
A: Why right here, of course! Click here to browse our inventory of new and used camper vans to see what we have in stock right now. Located in the San Francisco Bay area, Classic Vans also offers low cost nationwide van delivery! If you wish to locate a dealer near you, you can visit www.airstream.com or give us a call at (866) 370-8222 and we’ll be happy to help you find one.
Q: How much can the Airstream Interstate tow?
A: Both the Interstate Lounge EXT and Grand Tour EXT have a towing capacity ranging anywhere from 4,200 to 6,400 lbs. depending upon build spec and intended vehicle loading with people, cargo, and fluids. That’s more than enough power to tow the average American car.
Q: What does an Airstream Interstate feel like to drive?
A: Since the Airstream Interstate is built on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis, it drives incredibly smoothly for a vehicle of its size and bulk. Many buyers are pleased with the motorhome’s surprisingly agile handling capabilities, often saying it drives like an SUV. Top to bottom soundproofing also ensures a quiet, peaceful ride.
